Prototype to Production |SolidWorks to Machined Hardware, One Supplier

The handoff between design and manufacturing is where most programs lose time. Dimensions change in translation. Tolerances get applied incorrectly. The machined part doesn’t match the prototype. At Infinity Skies, design and manufacturing stay with the same team from concept through delivered hardware — which means what we design, we build, and what we build matches what we designed.

The Three-Stage Process

Stage 1 – SolidWorks Design

We work from your requirements, your sketch, or your existing drawing. If you have a design, we review it for manufacturability and interface compatibility before cutting any material. If you need the design, we develop it. Deliverable: Released SolidWorks model and drawing package.

Stage 2 – FDM Concept Prototype

Before we machine metal, we print it. The FDM prototype is a physical fit-check you can hold it, install it, confirm interfaces, and catch problems before they cost machining money. Typical turnaround on FDM prototypes: 24–48 hours. Deliverable: FDM prototype in PLA or PETG for fit and form verification.

Stage 3 – CNC-Machined Production Hardware

Once the design is confirmed, we machine the production parts. Same tolerances, same documentation, same material traceability as our standard CNC machining service. Deliverable: CNC-machined parts with material certs, inspection records, and configuration documentation.

Quantities & Scope

  • inimum order: 1 unit
  • Standard range: 1–50 units per run
  • Repeat orders: once a design is released, reorder turnaround is 24–72 hours on standard parts
  • Larger volumes: contact us we coordinate with our supply chain partners for production-scale runs

When to Use This Service

This engagement makes sense when:

  • You have a new fixture or tooling design that hasn’t been built before
  • You need to prove fit and function before committing to machined hardware
  • Your program is moving faster than your supply chain and you need a single technical point of contact
  • You want the person who designs the part to be accountable for whether it works
